Welcome to The PARC (Patient Activation Research Community), an Amgen Inc. online community that connects patients, family members, caregivers, and other healthcare community members. By engaging with any of The PARC’s features, you agree to these Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions, in addition to Amgen's Terms of Service, User Agreements, and other legal notices. The PARC website and its features are intended for U.S. residents only.
Amgen Inc. (“Amgen,” “We” or “Our”) is committed to communicating with our customers, patients and members of the healthcare community in a transparent and timely manner and consistent with Amgen’s Code of Conduct which can be read here.
Please follow the Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions below when engaging with The PARC and other PARC members and users.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This community (the "Service," or the "Website") is provided by Amgen Inc. (“Amgen”) and The PARC is powered by Inspire LLC (“Inspire”) on behalf of Amgen and supported by their team of 24/7 moderators.
Inspire is the world’s largest online health community, patient engagement and real-world data platform. Inspire is providing Amgen with the technology, digital community, patient engagement, research, and support services that power The PARC. Inspire is providing the core technologies, including the database, content management database, and data processing services, such that any post, comment, or other user data in The PARC is stored in Inspire’s database. Inspire is also providing moderation and support services, and may need to access user data including personally identifiable information in order to provide those services. Inspire is also responsible for any data access and data deletion requests that users may have related to their data that may be stored or previously consented for use in The PARC. Additionally, Inspire provides patient engagement services to conduct research on behalf of Amgen, and may provide access to clinical trial information and educational materials. Inspire may use data, including content posted by users, to understand how users are using the platform and to add or offer additional services, including but not limited to additional content, features, or functionality. Inspire may de-identify your data and use that de-identified data for any purpose.
By using this Website, you agree to be bound by The PARC website Terms of Use, the Privacy Statement and these Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions (“The PARC Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions”).
Registration
While you can view some features of the Service without registering, you must register to use all of the features of the Service, including to post a profile, to post other content, or to communicate with other members. When you register for the Service, you are required to provide certain information and are provided an opportunity to create a profile containing additional, optional information. We will send you an email at the address you provide to confirm your membership, after which your membership will be activated. You will be asked to select a username and password.
You must provide us with current, complete, and accurate information as requested by the registration form. Updating this information is your responsibility. Registration is restricted to adults and U.S. residents only. If you are a minor, you are not permitted to use this feature of the PARC website.
After you have completed the registration form, you will be asked to choose a user identification (username) and password. Usernames are subject to Amgen's approval and may not contain misleading or objectionable material. It is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of your password and account. Additionally, you are responsible for any and all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify Amgen immediately of any unauthorized use of your account by using our contact us form. Amgen is not liable for any loss that you may incur as a result of someone else using your password or account, either with or without your knowledge.
When signing into your account, after entering your chosen username and password you will be asked to enter additional information to log in. You will receive a code via email that you will be prompted to enter on your device.
Privacy
We strongly recommend you do not use your real name or email address as your Profile name. Your Profile name is public, which means anyone on the Internet can see it, and find it. If you want to change your Profile name, you can do so by clicking on your profile picture, selecting the go to profile link, then edit profile and click edit next to profile name. If you make a change, be sure to click the "Save" button.
We also recommend you not post directly identifiable information like your full name, email address, phone number or any other contact information. Be thoughtful about the information you share, especially sensitive information. If you want to exchange this information with someone you feel comfortable with, do so in a private message.
In addition, do not demand or ask other members for personal information, credentials, or medical information that they may not wish to discuss or disclose.
Finally, please do not repost information about a member from another site, such as Facebook, on The PARC. The information may not have been intended for a wider audience.
Terms
This PARC Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions will remain in full force and effect while you use the Service and/or are a member. You may deactivate your membership at any time. To do so, please contact us at PARC Help. Additionally, Amgen may terminate your membership at any time for any reason. In the event of deactivation or termination, other terms of The PARC Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions will remain in effect.
COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Policy Regarding Postings, Forwarding, Reposting, Liking or Other Interactive Functionality by Users
After you have registered and your membership is confirmed, you will be able to post content on the Service (the "Content") and communicate with other members. You are solely responsible for the Content that you publish or display (hereinafter, "post") or transmit to other members via the Service. By posting Content to any public area of the Service, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to Amgen an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully paid, worldwide license to use, copy, perform, display, and distribute such information and content and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such information and content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing.
Amgen does not control and is not responsible for any notes, messages, billboard postings, photographs, profiles or other materials posted or delivered to the Service by you or other members. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other PARC members. Amgen reserves the right to review, monitor, delete, or edit postings at any time in its sole discretion, for any reason or no reason, and to delete or edit any posting that is objectionable, offensive, illegal, or in violation of The PARC Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions with or without notice. You agree that you have no recourse against Amgen if we refuse to post, or if we delete or refuse to delete, any post by you or other members.
You Agree That You Will Not:
You are solely responsible and liable for postings delivered to the Service using your account. Any violation of these provisions can subject your PARC membership to immediate termination and, possibly, further legal action.
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action in our sole discretion against anyone who violates these provisions, including without limitation, removing the offending communication from the Service and terminating the membership of such violators.
Do Not Use The PARC and The PARC Community as a Substitute for, or to Give, Medical Advice
The PARC website content is informational and should not be viewed as professional or medical advice. The PARC and The PARC community are not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider and do not rely on the information on this site when making decisions about your health. The content on The PARC is for information only. Report a Post Contrary to the Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions
If you see a post that violates these Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions, let us know. Responding in an inflammatory manner to a post that you think should be reported is against our guidelines and could result in the removal of your post, so please use the Contact us form to report the item of concern to our moderation team. In order to protect privacy, we never reveal who reported a problem to us. Every post/reply and member profile has a link to report the item for review, and you can submit your report anonymously.
Do Not Repost Deleted/Removed Posts or Replies
If a moderator has removed it, it violates our guidelines. Do not repost it.
Don't Use The PARC to Offer or Exchange Medication
No part of The PARC may be used to facilitate the donation, exchange, or receipt of medication, as it is against the law to do so. If you are interested in donating unused medication to help those in need, you'll need to determine how the laws of your country and locality govern such donations.
Important: Adverse Events, Product Complaints, and Other Safety Findings
If your post contains an Adverse Event, Other Safety Finding and/or Product Complaint (collectively referred to as Reportable Events) for an Amgen product, Amgen is required by law to report it to the Health Authorities (i.e. FDA). You may also contact Amgen Medical Information directly to report the Reportable Event at 1-800-77-AMGEN (1-800-772-6436). Alternatively, you may contact your local Health Authority. You Agree That You Will Not:
- Post inappropriate comments or inferences about Amgen, Amgen’s products or Amgen’s competitors.
- Post information about your treatment experience or clinical results during an active clinical trial. Such posts may introduce bias and influence the study results, potentially impacting the scientific integrity of a study.
- Post or deliver any medical advice including unsafe medical or treatment suggestions. You may share information about your experiences, but do not play the role of a health professional (even if you are one).
- Post or deliver any unsolicited advertisement, promotional materials, junk email, bulk email (also known as "spam"), chain letters, surveys or contests, or solicit participation in any pyramid schemes, or any fraudulent endeavor. The number of postings by any member is subject to reasonable limits at the discretion of Amgen.
- Post or deliver any advertisement or solicitation via the Service to buy or sell any products or services, or engage in commercial activities and/or sales, without our prior written consent.
- Post or deliver, or provide links to, any postings containing material that could be considered harmful, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, violent, abusive, profane, insulting, threatening, tortuous, harassing, hateful or otherwise objectionable.
